Private Poles, also known as Private Service Poles (PSP) or Pole A’s, are a very common sight around the network infrastructure. It is a pole constructed from either galvanised steel or treated hardwood, primarily used to maintain required heights & provide a suitable attachment point required to comply with the NSW Service & Installation Rules.

Pillars are connection points installed for accessing and utilising the underground electricity network. You will find electricity pillars where there is no overhead network available (no street poles) but instead the service is installed underground.
 
Many installations in new estates, newly created suburbs and CBDs are commonly supplied with electricity via an underground network. If this is your case,you may choose to have a pillar installed on your property to provide a means for the electricity network to extend to your premises or for your installation to remain compliant.

Point of attachment brackets, or points, are what holds the overhead service line to your building. Depending on the type of service, roof structure, and location of this point, the appearance of your bracket will vary.
 
There are many brackets available specially engineered, designed and manufactured for this purpose satisfying structural and strength parameters. It may be as simple as a fixed point to which the service is attached, to a bracket bolted directly to the rafters of your roof structure through your tiles. With age, the timbers to which these are fixed (either fascia or rafters) will rot and the brackets rust and require replacement.
 
They may also be a hindrance to roofers and carpenters. This means that the overhead service line will need to be removed temporarily and suspended so they can continue on with their remedial work safely and correctly on fascia repair or gutter replacement.
