Power from the electricity network may enter your property via a few different methods, one of which is via underground wiring. Some areas of Sydney (primarily new estates, new suburbs and the CBD), do not have an overhead electricity network where the power available from the electricity grid is located on an underground wiring network.

• No wiring off the network is attached via an overhead cable directly to your house, giving the building a "clean" unobstructed appearance

• Option for situations where it is difficult or impossible to remain compliant regarding achieving the required heights and clearances

Installing an underground service involves excavation from the network whether it is from an external pillar or turret, or from a network power pole to your meter box and the installation of suitable enclosures to house and protect the service.

Depending on your property location, an underground service might be your only option. That said, some of our clients wish to utilise the underground method even where an overhead network exists. This is because not having overhead wires attached directly to the building gives the property a "clean, unobscured" look. This is a totally acceptable means of installation and is named a UGOH connection (Under Ground Over Head).

Consumers must make sure not to allow incorrectly licensed or unlicensed persons to conduct this category of electrical work.
